The Leadership APTA Class of 2024 is pleased to share their capstone projects with APTA members and the transit industry. Over the course of the program, class members identified and addressed six key areas of concern for the industry, interviewed and met with dozens of industry CEOs, senior leaders, and national experts. In addition, they conducted related surveys and research to produce some outstanding presentations and reports.
The capstone project deliverables include an executive summary, short video of their capstone project presentation, and supporting slide deck. These six project teams delivered their capstone project executive presentations to a number of APTA Committee meetings during APTA TRANSform 2024 in Anaheim.
Please take advantage of the wealth of information and recommendations found in each of these capstone projects.

This project explored work schedules from the operators’ points of view, the desires and needs of planning and management teams, how technology is adapting, and maybe more importantly, why we all should care. What makes a good schedule? Why should we regularly engage with our operators? How can we do better? The answers to these questions re-frame scheduling to be human-centric, meet people’s needs, and transcend seniority, all of which help us to drive greater operator satisfaction and retention.
