General Session: Federal Transit Administration Update

Launched by FTA last June to help advance President Biden’s ambitious GHG reduction goals, the Sustainable Transit for a Healthy Planet Challenge calls on transit agencies to develop strategies to reduce emissions, such as converting fleets to electric buses, making facilities more energy efficient, and generating power through renewable energy sources. On Earth Day 2022, FTA recognized 10 transit agencies for their exemplary efforts to mitigate GHG emissions and launched phase 2 -- continued support of transit agencies developing strategies to reduce their footprint and address the climate crisis.
