Recorded On: 11/09/2021

Join us for this important session covering major issues in transit and rail safety. This includes the FTA’s Part 673 Public Transportation Agency Safety Plan (PTASP) rule for which 100% of bus and rail transit agencies are now in compliance. Two transit agency representatives will speak about their PTASPs, including how they drafted them, best practices, and moving forward with SMS implementation at their respective agencies. A representative from FTA will also speak about the PTASP rule, including compliance and technical assistance; and will provide an update on FTA’s major safety and security-related initiatives, including: COVID-19 vaccine access, the safety concerns and RWP/worker assaults request for information, and the enhanced transit safety and crime prevention initiative. Finally, a Transportation Research Board (TRB) contractor, involved in the project titled “TCRP SA-51 Transit Safety Risk Management Methodologies,” will speak on relevant findings regarding safety, SMS, and risk management.
