Reframing What Matters – Proving the Value Proposition for Transit (Leadership APTA)

Transit is at a crossroads today with changing customer preferences, fluid demands on service, and calls for increased social equity. The need for transit to evolve to respond to community needs is more critical today than ever before.  To be successful, a new paradigm is needed for transit operations to demonstrate the return on investment provided by the community. This study will help position transit executives with key messages and tools needed to advocate and influence policy directions for the 21st century.

This study, incorporating industry partners views, and seeking to understand the perspectives of thought leaders across the political spectrum, will provide a synthesis of thematic concepts impacting the perceptions of transit operations today, identification of future potential research focus areas as transit continues to respond and recover from the COVID-19 pandemic, and provide a general discussion and description on how transit can reframe its values and focus.
