During this session, speakers will discuss vehicle and facility cleaning, disinfecting and other viral mitigation strategies, including social distancing (i.e. rear boarding and blocking out seats), HVAC cleaning/ventilation, use of bus shields, mask requirements, and other strategies. This session will also discuss some of the major disinfecting efforts transit agencies have taken throughout the year, including the use of APTA’s Cleaning and Disinfecting White Paper here. Further, panel members will also juxtapose this with “over disinfecting” occurring at some transit agencies on their buses and equipment (and how this may actually be eroding some systems). Finally, the session will introduce best practices across the industry and cite CDC, EPA and other federal, state and local guidance. Overall, we encourage all transit agencies, contractors and business members to attend this important session to learn about operating in the most safe and effective way during the COVID-19 pandemic.
