Trespassing Prevention and Grade Crossing Safety – Best Practices and New Technologies

Recorded On: 09/22/2022

Accidents due to trespassing and grade crossing violations now arguably pose the greatest safety challenge to railroads and transit agencies. The APTA Trespassing Prevention Webinar & Workshop is intended to bring together member agencies on this important topic. The webinar will serve to inform stakeholders about federal focus and leadership on this issue, best practices in mitigation from member agencies, and recent developments in cutting-edge technologies to understand trespassing and grade crossing violation behavior. This webinar was initiated by recent developments in trespassing research including the publication of TCRP Project A-44 Strategies for Deterring Trespassing on Rail Transit and Commuter Rail Rights-of-Way lead by Jeff Warner of Texas A&M and artificial intelligence driven trespassing research conducted by Rutgers University Rail and Transit Program.
