This APTAU CEU Academy two-part series provides training on zero emission bus (ZEB) deployments, based on the best practices identified in the Guidebook for Deploying Zero Emission Transit Buses, funded through the Transportation Research Board (TRB) of the National Academies of Sciences, Engineering, and Medicine.
This first session focuses on the planning stage. Participants will come away with an understanding of the unique needs for upfront planning for ZEBs compared to conventionally-fueled vehicles; how to evaluate your service needs; and the approach for vehicle and infrastructure selection.
The series is geared towards transit agency planners, project managers, bus operations staff, and bus maintenance staff who are either preparing to deploy ZEBs; deploying their first fleet of ZEBs; or beginning to explore the next phase of ZEB deployment.
Training instructors are from the Center for Transportation and the Environment, the authors of the 2020 TRB Guidebook for Deploying Zero Emission Transit Buses. Attendees will be asked to review specific guidebook chapters before the training.
The session will be interactive with audience Q&A. Attendees will also hear from at least one transit agency in each session for a real world demonstration of the concepts being taught in the training.
Participants may receive either 1.5 CEU planner credits or 1.5 CEU engineering credits for this session.
