Leadership Capstone Project Presentations
CLASS OF 2025
The Leadership APTA Class of 2025 is pleased to share their capstone projects with APTA members and the transit industry. Over the course of the program, class members identified and addressed six hot-topic areas for the industry, interviewed and met with well over one hundred industry CEOs, senior leaders, and national experts. In addition, they conducted related surveys and research to produce some exceptional presentations and reports.
The capstone project deliverables include an executive summary, short video of their capstone project presentation, and supporting slide deck. These six project teams delivered their capstone project presentations during a dedicated session at APTA TRANSform 2025 in Boston.

The capstone team conducted several months of industry research on recent capital expansion programs across the United States, seeking to better understand if there was a “right” balance between public and private sector staffing when advancing a capital expansion program.

Although data indicates that transit systems are safe - in fact, transit riders are less likely to be the victim of a crime as compared to car drivers - riders’ perception that systems are not safe has led to negative customer satisfaction surveys and in some cases, a reduction in, or an aversion to, transit - even more so in the post-COVID era.
