Hosted by APTA’s Innovative Finance & P3 Real Estate Sub-Committee Hospitals and universities are already key transit ridership anchors. Now, more institutions and developers are actively creating housing and mixed-use projects near transit hubs—aligning workforce housing needs with supportive zoning and financing policies. Join us for a conversation on how “Meds” and “Eds” are driving Transit-Oriented Development (TOD) through innovative partnerships and real estate strategies.
Educational campuses and medical campuses are already major generators of transit ridership. This webinar will feature examples from Hackensack Meridian's Health & Wellness Center at the Metro Park train station in New Jersey, the Jackson Health System Civic Center Mixed-Income/Mixed-Use TOD at UHealth/Jackson Metrorail Station in Florida and the Bayhealth Hospital, Sussex County Healthy Community development in Delaware.
These "Meds and Eds" are purposely planning and developing housing and mixed-use projects near transit stations to provide affordable housing for their staff and graduate students, and to take advantage of policies that foster such development such as zoning and financing programs.
